Ford announce new Managing Director

Ford of Britain has revealed that Mark Ovenden (right) will be instated as MD from next month.

Mr Ovenden will replace Nigel Sharp, 65, after nearly 40 years of service with Ford and will take over from 15 August, following a number of senior marketing roles within Ford since 2006.

Roelant de Waard, Vice President of marketing, sales and service for Ford of Europe, said that Mark possesses a proven ability to deliver swift business growth and brings significant experience after positions in Michigan, Cologne and Russia.

He added: “Nigel’s business acumen, leadership skills and passion for the business have made a significant difference to the Ford of Europe marketing and sales team over many years.

“On behalf of the company, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Nigel for his tremendous contribution to the business.”

Also settling into their new Managing Director office next month will be Jim Wright (left) who assumes the role on behalf of Nissan Motor GB from 1 August.

Mr Wright will shift over from his current role as European Vice President for Infiniti , Nissan’s luxury division, and it’ll be familiar territory after holding several sales and marketing posts at the company’s Maple Cross headquarters between 1993 and 2000.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Nissan GB at such an exciting time for the company,” said Jim.

“No other company has such a diverse and innovative product line-up, ranging from the all-electric Nissan LEAF to the GT-R supercar. The Qashqai is a top-ten seller in the UK, and total sales topped 100,000 last year.

“I look forward to maintaining this momentum and taking Nissan even further forward in the future."

Jim is being handed the reins from Paul Willcox, who has taken the position of Senior Vice President for Nissan Europe’s Sales and Marketing.

Aidan Flynn has been instated as the General Manager of Business Services for Freight Transport Association in Ireland.

Focussing on compliance audits, health & safety and training and tachograph services, Aidan brings plenty of experience and contacts to his new Dublin based role having built relationships with local transport operators as well as government and statutory bodies.

Driving home from indy last weekend the rear end locked up at 65 mph. fun ride to say the least. i got out and everything looked normal. no leaks or anything. i got in and put it in reverse and it went without a hitch. drove forward and it was fine. i was dumbfounded. so i get a mile from my house and it starts making this terrible grinding sound. i get out and check it and see nothing, it wasnt coming from the rear end it was coming from the brakes. i got it straight to the dealer since its under warranty and they strip it down and find that the pads for the emergency brake have delaminated and destroyed my sensors and my axles on the passenger side . none of which is covered. Mostly sounds like known issues in Titans of that era. 4x4 increases maintenance cost inherently. Many Transfer cases have been replaced and front axles fall out all the time. Glad I stuck with 2WD! Axle Seal leak will destroy the Parking Brake on many brands of pickups. Our GMC's & Ford's at work lose normal brakes or parking brakes due to same issue when it occurs. Tank Sensor is a recall, and gives you a new Fuel Filter and Fuel Pump too, it is all one assembly. Good stuff! Glad mine was recalled recently. Stay up on recalls. Other electrical issues were not explained, but apparently recalls also. So, Nissan stood behind the issues, although you incurred much cost for axles. Non Drive Train after 5 Years. You do have a 2006 correct? Bought used around 2008? Unfortunate to have these cost, but as VQPOWER stated, all vehicles have weak spots. Everything listed is what we discuss here all the time. I love my 06!
