The Father Dyer Food Pantry has an average of 254 service encounters per month. The Sunday Community Dinners serve between 55-60 individuals per week. The Special Assistance program helps people in crisis situations. These are human service programs that benefit from the proceeds of the “Treasure Sale.” Come to this huge yard sale on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Father Dyer Church, 310 Wellington Road (Breckenridge), to support Father Dyer's outreach projects. Registration runs from 8-9 a.m. with race start at 9:15. Pre-register for discount and fast check-in on race day (download registration form or get more info at www.summmitlaps.com ). Pre-registration must be received by Saturday for discount. Fees are per dog so bring the family! You can participate without a dog also, but will not be eligible for race prizes. You'll receive a doggie goodie bag and bandanna, custom T-shirt and other surprises per entry and be eligible for door prizes. Free Abbey's coffee, donuts, bananas and lemonade. Entertainment will feature various demos of “Doggie sports for you & your mutt” by Louisa Morrissey of Skijor-N-More and vendor tables with great pet products and services, local vet offices and more. Popular doggie contests will include best dancer, best singer, largest mutt and whatever we can make up after that. The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance is offering a new guided bus tour of historic Breckenridge. The gold route includes scenic views, ski area history, mine sites, historic homes and Breckenridge stories from then and now. The two-and-a-half hour journey includes stops in town as well as historic sites outside of Breck town limits. The route is being offered on Saturdays in July and August at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $20/person or $10 for kids 12 and under. Reservations are required. Call (970) 453-9767 x1. As this year's bluegrass and beer event beneficiary, the High Country Conservation Center is in charge of staffing volunteers for the festival in exchange for a large donation to our organization. One easy way you can help support conservation efforts in Summit is by volunteering for a shift on Aug. 6-7. Shifts last between 2-3 hours and include ID checkers, info booth, kids' crafts and assisting beer vendors. We hope you will join us for great bluegrass and a great volunteer opportunity.
