Backlight Software Gets 'Submerged!'

Backlight, LLC, the company that developed FollowUP ™ and Cookudos ®, today announced the unveiling of ‘Submerged!' ™, a fresh underwater strategy combat game for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

Backlight today announced the unveiling of a unique entry in the online multi-player strategy genre. Using primitive controls similar to what one might have found in a submarine from over 40 years ago, players must navigate treacherous waters, identify objects, collect treasure, battle it out with enemies, and avoid harming the innocent marine life that often gets in the way. Points are accumulated by defeating enemies and collecting treasure, but lost when harming sea creatures such as dolphins or narwhals.

While the single player mode is quite engaging, it's the multi-player aspect that really gives this game luster! By utilizing Apple's Game Center platform, ‘Submerged!' allows players to match up against friends or players from around the world, and also to play in the language of their choice.

“We wanted to create a game that brings people together.” said Kyle Geiger, President of Tragen Venture, LLC and Executive Producer for ‘Submerged!'. “Our goal was to produce a thrilling combat adventure game that friends could enjoy together and play in groups.”

James Hall, Project Coordinator from Backlight Software, commented, saying; “We wanted to bring some of that same daring suspense that you experience in underwater battle scenes from such movies as ‘Hunt for Red October' or ‘Crimson Tide'. You don't have windows and doors on a submarine, and part of that sensation of fear comes from the fact that you can't really see what's going on around you until that [sonar] wand comes around again.”

‘Submerged!' should appeal to casual gamers of all ages and is available now on the iTunes App Store. It is compatible with iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, and requires iOS 4.2 or later. Languages: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
