Single Domain Controller Crash - News
A malicious user-space process running in an SMP guest could trick the emulator into reading a different instruction than the one that caused the virtual machine to exit. An unprivileged guest user could trigger this flaw to crash the host.

Windows Server Active Directory Domain controller not allowing ...
I recently had a domain controller crash. Just prior to that (thankfully) I created a backup DC in VMWare. After the PDC crashed, I thought I would just boot up the VMWare version and all would be fine. No joy. The domain will not show in the SQL Server Management Studio Locations when trying to create q Windows login to SQL server. When the Virtual DC boots up, none of the AD tools will work until I change the domain controller. Only then can I see all of the OUs and users in AD. I had to use NTDSUtil and cleanup all of the references to the old domain controller. DNS can find the DC, as I can ping it by name and I have internet connectivity. I can also log in as domain\user without a problem. I can create a new login account in AD but I cannot log into the domain using the new account. Below is a listing from DCDiag.exe on the bad domain controller. There are a host of failures. I need to get AD back up and running ASAP, as I use Windows Integrated Security a lot in my development for SQL Logins, IIS application pools, etc. I am no network engineer and am at a complete loss as to how to get this running again. Any help is deeply appreciated.
